Trip Out West: Home Sweet Home

The 4th of July
For the 4th of July we all met at Matt’s house in Midway for a barbecue and fireworks. It was such a blast catching up with everyone again!

Fish Lake, Richfield, Utah
That same week Saul invited us all to spend the weekend with them at their home in Richfield, Utah, and at Fish Lake, fishing from a pontoon boat they rented for a day. Most families stayed the entire weekend but Brad, Brittney, Sean and I met everyone at the lake Saturday morning and stayed most of the day. Although the water was quite cold, the outside temperature was perfect, and such a nice relief from the oppressive heat in the valley. We all had such a wonderful time and we can’t thank Saul, Carolee (and family) enough for providing such a fantastic weekend!

Baby Shower, Alpine, Utah
Brittney wanted me, and her sister-in-law Christy, to attend her baby shower so she had it the week we we would all be in town. It was so nice to get together at Sean’s Dad’s house and have a chill evening playing games, eating snacks, and opening baby gifts with Mom, Sasha & daughter Rachelle, Sean’s sister Christy (his other sister Emily actually lives in the basement of the house but could not come upstairs because she was attending to sick children), three of Sean’s aunts and three of his cousins, and friends of Brittney & Sean including Kimmy who put on the Shower.

Heber Canyon with an Old Friend
I always like to go driving and/or hiking in the mountains when I visit Utah, just so I can get my fill until my next visit, only this time I went with my best childhood friend, Debbie. It was so wonderful to eat a little picnic lunch, on top of a mountain, surrounded by wild flowers, while re-connecting with such a dear friend! And to top things off, enjoying a scenic drive back while listening to an 80’s play-list Deb created just for us! It was so reminiscent of days-long-past, but hopefully one we can continue to re-create in the future! Thank you Deb, for taking time out of your busy schedule to spend time with a long lost friend!

Lehi Utah with the Holts
Speaking of good friends, just because we couldn’t stand to be away from the Holts for a whole month, we had dinner with Rex & Veronica and Christina & George (who are living in the Salt Lake area) at Barley & Burgers in Lehi, and then enjoyed Dirty Dough Cookies (not to be confused with Crumbl Cookie) at Brittney and Sean’s house (also located in Lehi) so that the Holts could see their cute little house they fixed up, and the beginnings of the baby nursery.
