Chilean Independence Day
Aubrey and Raul wanted to celebrate Chile’s Independence day which was on Sept 18, so they spent six hours in the kitchen making and baking authentic Chilean food that would normally be eaten on Chile’s independence day (just like our Thanksgiving meal). Although Aubrey and Raul had eaten all those foods before, this was the first time they had ever attempted to make them. Raul received recipe’s from his mother and was able to watch some you-tube videos, but the trickiest part was converting the measurements for the ingredients from the metric system to our American measuring system. In the end, they did an excellent job, and everything they made tasted absolutely delicious! Our friends Rex and Veronica Holt celebrated with us in addition to Wesley and Molly Holt, and their new baby Mason. Molly served with Aubrey in Chile over six years ago, and was delighted to come, even to the point of traveling with their new baby for the first time. Baby Mason truly stole the show, everyone loved holding him, watching him smile, and listening to all his little baby noises. We also celebrated Aubrey’s birthday that evening which I will explain in more detail in my next post.
