Fall Fun with Friends & Family!

Fall Fun with Friends & Family!

For the past several years we have been trying to get Brad’s former boss Gordy and wife Maureen, to come watch the horse races at Keeneland race track (Lexington KY) in October (Keeneland Fall Meet). We also had my sister Cindy book her plane ticket to KY in October so that she too could watch the races. However, it just so happened that they all came the same weekend, and it also just so happened that the weekend they came was opening week of Keeneland and every ticket was sold out! We then went to plan “B” which was spending the day Saturday enjoying the Fall colors in Southeast Kentucky by hiking Natural Bridge, picnicking in Red River Gorge, and checking out an old Fort founded by Daniel Boone called Fort Boonesborough. We invited Aubrey and Raul to join us because ‘the more the merrier’! Saturday evening we stopped at the castle in Versailles for some photo opps, and then ate dinner at Brown Barrel, Blind Harry’s restaurant in beautiful Midway. The day before, we were able to show Gordy & Maureen around our neck of the woods before picking Cindy up at the Cincinnati airport late Friday night. We live in the Bluegrass region of Kentucky which really does have a distinct feel all it’s own with black fences and old stone walls (from Civil War times) surrounding miles and miles of horse farms, and black tobacco barns (with replicas of quilts on each one) dotting the rolling farmland everywhere in-between. Over the years I really have grown fond of, My Old Kentucky Home (State Song)!
